It would be far more distressing to have a client spend money on something like that.

Of course, it is possible to file a patent application without conducting a search at all.
This might happen when a client is in a rush to file or is already well-versed in the patents within their industry.
There are also cases where the search results indicate a very low probability of patentability,
yet the client still wishes to proceed with the application.
However, doing so often results in failing to obtain the patent they originally sought.
Furthermore, the process from filing to grant is lengthy.
The loss in terms of the client's effort, cost, and time can be immense.
That is why we recommend conducting a thorough patent search—
before embarking on that long process.

Here are the details of our patent search process:
① Patent searches are conducted by patent attorneys with experience as JPO examiners.
② We visit the Japan Patent Office (JPO) to conduct searches—rain or shine, hot or cold! (Haha)
→ We perform searches in an environment equivalent to that of the examiners themselves.
③ The same patent attorney who conducts the search also drafts the patent application documents.
④ While there is a fee for the search, a portion of that cost is credited toward the patent application fees.
Incidentally, large corporations typically have dedicated in-house patent search teams.
You may not have a dedicated patent search team of your own.
But you have us on your side!
