Understanding the differences between "introverted," "extroverted," and "diplomatic" deepens your understanding of others.

"The Decisive Difference Between Introverted and Diplomatic"

I came across an online article with a title like that.

Content of this sort usually just stirs up conflict for the sake of entertainment.

There is rarely anything to be learned from it.

To begin with, "introverted" is not the opposite of "diplomatic."

In this article, I will explain the terms "introverted," "extroverted," and "diplomatic."

I won't be discussing which one is "better."

Instead, let's use this information to better understand others and incorporate their ways of thinking.

I am a patent attorney, but I am also a "Senior Psychological Counselor."

I’m here to share insights that blend psychology with fresh ideas!

■ "Introverted" vs. "Extroverted"

"Introverted" means one's consciousness tends to be directed inward.

"Extroverted" means one's consciousness tends to be directed outward.

You can see this clearly in conversations.

Introverts tend to focus on their inner thoughts—expressing things like "This is what *I* think."

Extroverts tend to focus on external events—sharing stories like "This is what happened."

Introverts and extroverts can have completely opposite ways of thinking.

Take summer, for example—a season full of excitement with fireworks, festivals, and sports.

Extroverts get really excited about these things.

Introverts, on the other hand, have absolutely no interest unless it is something they personally enjoy.

■ Even Introverts Can Be "Diplomatic"

"Introverted" and "extroverted" have nothing to do with being "diplomatic."

A "diplomatic" person is someone who engages actively with the world.

They are people who primarily focus on expanding their social connections.

Even introverts can be "diplomatic."

You simply have to decide, "I want to be diplomatic," and then take action.

The ability to make that kind of decision for oneself is a characteristic of introverts.

Incidentally, being "extroverted" doesn't necessarily mean being "diplomatic."

For example, consider someone who passionately supports their favorite idol or celebrity (*oshi-katsu*) on their own, or someone who waits in long lines at popular shops. While someone may be "extroverted"—meaning their focus is directed outward—that does not necessarily mean they are "diplomatic" in their dealings with others.

■ Understand others and adopt their positive traits!

There may be times when you simply don't understand how someone else thinks.

In such cases, it helps to consider the concepts of "introversion" and "extroversion."

It is not at all surprising for someone's mindset to be the exact opposite of your own.

Furthermore, adopting the positive qualities of others might just boost your own happiness.

Generally, introverts tend to prioritize "correctness," while extroverts tend to prioritize "fun."

If an introvert incorporates that extroverted sense of fun, their happiness can increase!

Definitions of "introverted," "extroverted," and "diplomatic" can vary from person to person.

However, the perspective offered in this article is easy to remember and likely to prove useful.

We look forward to continuing to share insights that blend psychology with fresh ideas!
